Is your Blog Killing Your Marriage?

There are a lot of ways to kill a marriage, cheating, and cold indifference to name two, but what about blogging? I honestly had not given this third option much thought until attending a blogging conference this past weekend.  I will also say that I am struggling in how to talk about this subject without sounding like a condescending bitch.. so forgive me if I verge off in that direction since it is not my intention. Being a Sex Blogger You see it works this way- tell people you have a sex and marriage blog and you are an open invitation to bold and awkward  questions, confessions and the occasional tear filled break-down having to do with...

Well Woman Exam- What to Expect after 40 and What Might Be Missing.

Ah yes, the yearly Well Woman visit, about as popular as April 15  and the tax man and yet a very important part of over all health for women of all ages.  ( I see you cringing and looking at the calendar.. yes you are over-do.. stop now and call to make an appointment!) For those with insurance a Well Woman visit is usually a fully covered once a year event that is part of your basic insurance package. For those without insurance things are more difficult but worth pursuing in a bid for over all health care.  Two resources are Liv Aware for finding free or low cost mammograms and of course Planned Parenthood for help with yearly exams and birth...

The Possibility of Post 40 Passion

I woke today feeling sore and  bit tired.. no, not the effects of old age creeping up on me. Around these parts birthdays are a week long event and you bet that means lots of after dark celebrating to go along with the cake and ice cream. The husband turned 59 this weekend.. call me a party animal. Oh, but wait.. the world does not want to read about or think about what my dear friend Chloe calls “Old Lady Sex.  You know, sex that anyone who is more than 10 years older than you is having. Good lord knows that as far as media is concerned we all might as well sew up the lady-goods and pick up the knitting needles since they seem to feel that no one wants...

Dressed to Flirt

Dressed to Flirt

Mind you I am pretty sure that my husband or just about any husband would accept advances from their wife even if said wife was wearing a burlap sack  but if the wife is anything like me she does not feel much like flirting if she feels that she does not look good or feel good in her own skin. While it is a trite axiom ” when you look good you feel good” and it is the truth. This can be proven again and again. It is the reason worker productivity drops off when an office goes too causal and why students in uniforms do better generally than kids who  dress as they please. And while a short plaid school girl skirt and stacked mary janes might figure...

A Little French Never Hurt Anyone.

I read a most interesting book this week, Bringing up Bebe by Pamela Druckerman.  It might seem a bit odd of me to mention a book on an American mother’s reflection of her life and baby raising in Paris and yet this book is full of intriguing commentary when it comes to finding that balance between being a parent and being a partner. More to the point the American preoccupation with parenting to the degree that we become little more than sexless lumps in the neurotic  pursuit of making sure our young ones get everything from Smart Baby videos to early Mandarin lessons in the quest to produce perfect children and in the end how...

Sex and Memory Foam

Well it seems that the sleeping public is taking a stand.. or is that a lie-down ( lay -down?) on the issue of getting a good night sleep and good sex is the  possible loser. According to a report in Barrons  couples are opting for deeper sleep at the possible risk of throwing a monkey wrench into their sex life with the purchase of the oh so wonderful memory foam  sleep experience. The claim by some is that a good romp on a memory foam mattress if more difficult than on the traditional spring coil mattress. As the very happy owner of a top of the line, thick, cushy and delightful to sleep on memory foam mattress I thought I would weigh in on this...
